Believe it or not the fan favorite middle school science educator Mrs. Moser is actually from West Midland Texas. Sure she’s from there but, when she was fifteen she moved to Weather-ford, she lived in a small town with not much to do besides to cruise MainStreet with her friends. When she wasn’t with them she would work at a dairy queen serving ice cream to the customers. She went to college and majored in journalism and got a Bachelor in science major in biology.
She graduated in 1993 and got a job in public relations, a worker at Enterprise Rented A Car and slowly moved up the branch into liberty. She gave them 16 years while being really happy at enterprise until she got a terrible new boss. She work there for a few years until she quit. After she quit she became a teacher at forest oak for 7 years teaching science and avid, but the district had other plans for Forest Oak. She had kids that went to elementary school, she worked with the PTA(Parent Teacher Association) to help support not only her kids but all the students, sure she was supporting the kids but she also had support from her husband.
The district wanted to make it better by making everyone reapply for jobs, she felt like it was time for a change. While she was an educator there she was learning from Coach Dwight. He knew Mr. White so he connected her with him. She then got a tour of the campus from Joshua Irvin which showed her how YMLA is “an interesting place, something new to explore.” To quote Mrs. Moser “the first year was hard. Ms Allen said wait for year two then it gets better and she was right.”
When she came to YMLA all of her scholars have made an impact on her life reminding her why it is what we do, such as Kenneth Wallies grew into an amazing young man. Getting able to watch everyone grow from 6th to graduation after all she taught everyone on campus. The district is well known for being a place to work with children ready to learn, in reality at YMLA they are just guys having a lot to learn. Just as much as YWLA. They have the same amount of drama and energy especially in 6th grade. After knowing many of our scholars have been through life, providing small comforts.
She wants to provide them comfort even though she may not have a big part all, to quote Mrs. Moser “Have a small part in developing minds to think critically, give students the ability to think and evaluate what’s true and not true when we go out into the world making well balanced and thoughtful choices.” As a teacher she leaves the next generation of teachers advice “it won’t be easy but will be worth it.” She enjoys planting, scrap booking, embroidering and anything craft making related to finding her peace. She’s proud to be a part of something amazing that has changed her life for the better.
