Pablo Guzman first joined Young Men’s Leadership Academy in August of 2019 as a 6th grader and has watched the school grow with new buildings and changes to the campus. His favorite memories come from working concessions and going to events during his sophomore and junior year, where he had fun and spent time with his friends.
Pablo is proud of being part of the YMLA community and helping out whenever and wherever he could. His advice to others is to simply ” Keep your heads up and don’t give up. ” Supported by teachers and his parents, he is grateful for the brotherhood and friendships he has built. To him, the friendships he built here go beyond the classroom they represent support, loyalty, and growth that shaped who he is today. He explained that the friendships he formed with classmates, teammates, and teachers gave him a sense of belonging that shaped his entire high school experience.
As he looks ahead, Pablo is excited to meet new people and for his next chapter in engineering. When I asked him about his upcoming college life he said he would like it to be chill and hopes the engineering major is really for him. Pablo hopes future students continue to value that same sense of brotherhood, because it is what makes YMLA more than just a school.
