Alfredo Hidalgo

Walking around the school you would notice this senior walking around, he will either be by himself or with a group of friends. Yes yes, I know, this description fits every senior, but what makes this senior especially known is his height. He’s 6’10, an only child, and likes to play basketball competitively. As for his hobbies, he likes to play and watch all kinds of sports, not to mention that he also likes to play the drums and sometimes the marimba. So, does anyone come to mind now? If so, you probably thought of Alfredo Hidalgo, which is what this article is going to be about.
Alfredo Hidalgo has been here at YMLA since the 6th grade, he arrived at YMLA in 2015. For over 7 years, he has stayed at this campus and is going to graduate in 2022, time sure does fly. Because he had stayed for so long, I was curious so, I asked him what made him stay around for so long? And what he said was pretty amazing. Alfredo stated the reason he had decided to stay was because of the special brotherhood we have with everyone at this school and the ways teachers and staff treat their students. This is also one of the things Alfredo likes about YMLA, the brotherhood that is built among all of us, that is kept during school and even outside of school.
Because of this shared brotherhood, I asked him what his favorite memory is here at YMLA. He replied, “My freshman year when we had our class Lock-In, where we turned in all electronics and had other ways of having fun. My favorite part was when we played hide and seek, where me and yoel had climbed up to the roof of the school building and nobody finding us.” Truly an amazing experience I bet, but what’s even more amazing? The fact that Alfredo is going to attend TCU with an academic full ride scholarship and majoring in Kinesiology, now that’s astonishing. Being the dedicated scholar he is, the obstacles thrown his way will be a piece of cake to overcome, which will lead him to success in life.
