Full Court Press- What Lies Ahead: Zachary Lee Senior Story
May 12, 2022
Zachary Lee, normally known as “The Coach’s Son”, or to those familiar to him known as the “The Funny Guy”, has built quite the reputation for only being here this year. He’s mostly describe as a funny, personable, stand-up dude amongst his closest peers, and says his personality means a lot to him and has brung him a lot of attention as his life has progressed. He thanks his mom instilling his core values and, of course, the funny gene:
“Can I tell a joke real quick? Ok so…..What made the tomato blush? It saw the salad dressing.” – Zachary Lee
Looking back on his senior year, theres a lot to unpack. Not only does he say he has grown in knowledge, he has also grown in experience. The premise of our dual-grade level school has allowed him to mentor his brothers not only in basketball but also give life advice as well. He also experienced new things outside of school with his move in with his father, Coach Lee. He tells us that his bond with his father has grown tremendously over the past year. He lived with his mother ever since he was a child, but this year has helped him grow as a man. His favorite memory is playing at his annual Father’s Day basketball game. He’s also very grateful for the memories he has made this year though. He says “I’ve become more mature and have my pops to thank.”
He says the past year or so at YMLA and its rigorous, college-prep programs has definitely benefited a lot. “I feel the prep I’ve received will make my Freshman year in college much easier. I’ve already taken many college classes and scholarships are accumulating. This year has been fantastic! If I could change anything Man, I gotta say I wish this year could’ve been longer, (preferably with less essays)!” He values the time spent with his friends and is looking forward to his future endeavors in college. He says before he goes he plans to spend loads of money and “have all the fun in the world sleeping.”
Although money isn’t everything to him, his plan is to make enough money for his grandchildren. He plans to study marketing and finance at one of these institutions:
Texas State, Sam Houston, UTA
As is moves on to college he looks forward to his experiences and in 5 years plans to play at the professional level somewhere and start building his business.
In 10 years he will still be on the court and with a business that has now become lucrative.
In 20 years he plans to be retired and has built gyms all around the area to host tournaments and give back to the children.
His message to incoming freshman:
“Keep your priorities straight and do the work!”
And to his closet loved ones:
“Thank you for everything you do! I couldn’t do anything without y’all!”
